The supermarket application, simple though it is, is a great example of how effective conveyors can be in saving time and money. The items which are processed by the till operator always arrive at the till before the previous items have been processed. This means that there is no delay between one batch of processing and the next. The same principle can be carried forward into industrial applications of far greater complexity.

Conveyor belt rollers can be used to extend these belt driven systems over practically any distance. What people used to observing these systems in supermarkets may not realize is that they can also reach a far higher level of complexity. It is possible to incorporate bends and curves into the system using some advanced technology. It is also possible to raise or lower items so long as the gradient is not too steep. Steep gradient movements are better carried out with a gravity based system.

Conveyor rollers are also commonly used in installations where they are open and exposed, and no belt is used. These installations are really only suitable in industry where the objects being carried are not fragile. They have the advantage of being easier to service and maintain, because the open rollers can be far more easily accessed. It is easier to see the operation of the unit and to diagnose any faults, and it is easier to carry out any needed repair. It is even possible that the unit can continue to operate while one or more rollers are removed, allowing the possibility of a repair being carried out once working hours have ceased.

Suppliers of conveyor belt rollers are not difficult to locate, as the technology has become so commonly used throughout many branches of industry. It is best to locate a local supplier if you can, as most repairs or servicing will need qualified personnel. When you buy your conveyor installation in the first place, make sure you consider servicing and maintenance, both from the view of expense and of the ease with which you can get the work carried out. It is important to be able to quickly repair or replace your conveyor rollers.
